Game 3 Rundown: Devils Respond in a Big Way

The Devils are back in their first-round series against the Lightning, as they came from behind to beat the Lightning, 5-2, in Game 3 Monday.

Cory Schneider made 34 saves in the contest and looked sharp in his first playoff start for the Devils.

For the third straight game in this series, the Devils fell behind, but Taylor Hall was able to respond for New Jersey with a one-time blast past Andrei Vasilevskiy at 12:24 of the second period.

After New Jersey surrendered a power-play goal to Steven Stamkos early in the third period, Will Butcher netted a gigantic goal at 4:03 in off a feed from Hall on a 5-on-3 power play to tie the game again.

Hall was at it again later on in the period, setting up Stefan Noesen‘s game-winning blast at 12:55 in the third.

New Jersey added two empty-net goals to pad their margin. Towards the end of Game 3, both teams set the tone for Game 4, as they engaged in some rough stuff and got into it.

Hall, who recorded three points in his first-ever home playoff game, spoke with Deb Placey and was once again serenaded with “MVP” chants from Devils fans.

During the post-game show, Steve Cangialosi, Ken Daneyko and Bryce Salvador went over the huge efforts from Schneider and Hall in Game 3.

The Devils will attempt to even the series Wednesday night in Newark, with Game 4 coverage starting at 7 PM on MSG, MSG+ and MSG GO.
