Game Preview: Devils vs. Oilers

Tonight, the Devils host the Edmonton Oilers for the first of two games the clubs will play this season, as they will skate again on Jan. 12 in Edmonton. The Devils had their two-game winning streak snapped last night at The Rock, falling 4-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Oilers meanwhile prevailed 4-3 in against Bruins Thursday, and are now seven games over .500.

McDOMINATING

Connor McDavid’s play has been on another planet this season, as he enters tonight’s game with 14 goals and 31 assists for 45 points through 40 games. The 19-year old sophomore comes to Newark with five points (two goals, three assists) in his past five games, with 29 points in 22 games on the road this season.

P.A. ON HIS WAY TO 20

First-year Devils’ forward P.A. Parenteau notched his 12th goal of the season Friday against Toronto, giving him four goals in his past six games played. Parenteau is gunning for back-to-back 20-goal seasons.

MAROON THREE

Patrick Maroon scored a goal in the first, second and third period in Thursday’s win over the Bruins. The St. Louis native now has 14 goals and seven assists for 21 points in 40 games this season. He comes to Jersey red-hot, with five goals and an assist in his past five tilts.

POINTS IN TWO STRAIGHT

After producing a two-point night in Carolina Tuesday, Adam Henrique once again hit the scoresheet, picking up a third-period assist. No. 14 now has four points in his past six games, and tallies 10 goals with 13 assists for 23 points in 40 games this season.
